Codam Mentorship Program

A support system of experienced professionals to better prepare students for their tech careers.

Fall Edition 2024: November 13, 2024 - February 20, 2025
Spring Edition 2025: April 2, 2025 - June 26, 2025

We believe that educating the new wave of talent requires a collective effort.

That’s why we’ve created a platform for industry professionals to get involved and help ensure our students learn directly from top experts.

Our Mentorship Program is designed as a support network of experienced professionals, aimed at preparing students for their tech careers.

By connecting seasoned engineers with motivated students, the program encourages knowledge transfer, helps students set career goals, and guides them as they take their first steps into the professional world.

The mentorship program offers professionals a chance to give back to the community while developing their coaching, communication, and leadership skills.

Our one-on-one format also allows you to build a deeper connection with your mentee, providing the comfort and safety needed to have insightful conversations and make meaningful contributions.

The Role of a Mentor

  • Career Guidance: Offer personalized advice to students on career paths and opportunities, tailoring guidance to align with their interests, strengths, and long-term aspirations.

  • Goal Setting and Management: Assist students in defining clear career goals and setting realistic expectations, providing ongoing support as they navigate their professional development journey.

  • Knowledge Transfer: Share your industry experience to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application, helping students gain practical insight into what it means to be a software engineer.

"Being a mentor to me means going out of your comfort zone, connecting with the new generation of developers, making new connections outside of your bubble. Sharing information and your experience is very rewarding since what you may think is common knowledge, turns out to be not common at all. It can be extremely useful for someone new to the industry. Being a mentor makes you re-think certain concepts, it helps you to grow. I always think about myself 14 years ago and how much I would benefit from some advice and encouragement."

About Codam

Codam is a tuition-free software engineering educator with a peer-to-peer learning environment that doesn’t involve teachers and lectures. We’re not a traditional university, and we’re not a coding bootcamp. Codam is a foundation that provides software engineering education to anyone that wants to get into tech.

We offer rigorous, industry-leading education modeled after the professional work environment. When you don’t have teachers or professors, students foster their ability to think critically, enhance their ability to problem-solve, and create hands-on fully functional programs.

Our approach is 100% practice, 100% project based, 100% collaborative and designed to develop the next generation of software engineers.
